The Crafty Farm Agricultural Department
(Last updated 04/17/2007)

Welcome to the Crafty Farm Agricultural Department.  These days, we're raising chickens and ducks, but we have more yet still planned (cattle and possibly other main staples).  We've been clear up to 125 chickens at one point and we presently have 21 ducks.  Both groups are producing quite a few eggs these days (April 2007).  We're presently producing ~ 2-3 dozen chicken eggs a day and 4-8 duck eggs a day.  Our breeds are New Hampshire Red chickens and Rouen ducks.  While eggs are all we're presently selling to the public, we will hopefully at some point start selling meat as well.

My intention is to get a lot more information posted in this section eventually to help everyone discover where their food comes from (if purchased from us), what the differences are between farm-fresh and commercial products and what you can do with our products (including recipes).  I may possibly get some of the Kansas food laws posted out here as well so you are all informed of present legalities regarding the sale of items directly off the farm.

We do have a much larger and longer range plan forming right now as to what all we might provide in the future, but it is still very much in the R&D stages so far.  Quite a bit of the R&D is needed to find all the laws for starters.  Secondly, we need to do profitability analysis.  Thirdly, we need to consult with a few other farmers and ranchers to verify the feasibility of some of our marketing ideas.  If it is well received, I'll post a mission statement and general marketing campaign on this page so you know where we're going and so you can help spread the word!

In the mean time, I hope all of our customers enjoy our farm-fresh eggs!
